With 95+ marine species recorded in the area - including seals & sea lions, sea turtles and jellyfish lake - HANAU offers some of North Sea Coast's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 3-19°C, warmest July, August, September.
The HANAU lies in the Fehmarn Belt, a steamship that struck a mine in 1944. At 137 metres long, she’s a substantial wreck, resting in just 16 metres of water, making her accessible for most divers. We’ve found her to be well-colonised by local marine life; expect to see plenty of cod, conger eels, and flatfish making use of the structure. Currents here can be noticeable, so picking your day is key for a comfortable dive. It’s a good one for those who appreciate history and aren't put off by the typical North Sea visibility, which can vary quite a bit.
