ILSE - North Sea Coast
The ILSE, a merchant vessel that went down in 1954, lies in a shallow eight metres off Denmark’s North Sea coast. It’s marked as dangerous, which usually means some parts are collapsing or nets are snagged, so we always approach with extra caution. What you get here is a good, straightforward wreck dive for those comfortable in colder water. The vessel is well-colonised now; expect to find cod and crabs tucked into the nooks and crannies, particularly around the bow and stern sections which are often the most intact. Visibility can be a bit variable, but on a good day, the structure emerges nicely from the sandy seabed, offering plenty of nooks to poke around in.
