IRENE - North Sea Coast
The *Irene*, a fishing vessel lost to a mine in 1948, lies upright at 33 metres on the seabed off Denmark’s North Sea coast. We find her largely intact, a skeletal frame that still gives a sense of her original form. It’s a dark dive, as you’d expect in these northern waters, but torches illuminate the details – the collapsed wheelhouse, sections of the deck, and scattered fishing gear. Cod and pollack often school around the superstructure, while crabs and lobsters find refuge in the deeper nooks and crannies. This is a dive for those who appreciate maritime history and aren't afraid of a bit of chill.
