JENS ROHDE - North Sea Coast

Jens Rohde, sunk in ’73 after an unfortunate run-in with the MV Leknes, is a North Sea classic. It’s not deep, just 11 metres, which makes it perfect for a relaxed dive, even if you’re newer to wreck diving. What we love about this site is how much of the old dredger you can still make out. We’ve finned past the intact propeller, which is a big draw, and the engine room offers some surprisingly open penetration if you’re comfortable with overhead environments and good on air. The wreck itself is a magnet for the local critters. Cod often cruise through the structure, and we’ve seen some seriously chunky conger eels tucked into the darker corners – keep an eye out for them, they can be curious. Visibility here can be a bit of a gamble, typical North Sea conditions, but on a good day, when the light pushes through the green water, the atmosphere around the Jens Rohde is incredible. We’d suggest diving this one on a calm day, definitely, and look for a slack tide to make the most of the exploration. It’s a great piece of history, nicely colonised by marine life, and a genuinely engaging dive.
