JORGEN - North Sea Coast

The Jorgen wreck holds a real punch for an eleven-metre dive. We always find ourselves lingering here, often making it our second dive of the day if we're in the area. This steamship, taken by a mine in 1940, now lies broken but still very much a ship, not just scattered debris. We love how the bow section offers a real sense of scale, looming out of the North Sea green. You'll spend most of your bottom time exploring the holds, which are surprisingly open in places, letting the ambient light filter down. Look for the engine room, it’s a jumble of collapsed machinery, but you can still make out the shape of things. Life here is abundant; expect thick schools of cod darting between the beams and those curious scorpionfish tucked into every crevice. Visibility can be hit or miss, typical for the North Sea, but on a good day, when the sun breaks through, the wreck truly comes alive. We’d suggest a slack tide to really make the most of the exploration. It’s a site that rewards slow, deliberate diving, perfect for those who enjoy the history as much as the marine life.
