KALANCHOE - North Sea Coast

The *Kalanchoe* feels like a proper North Sea wreck, not some tropical trinket. She went down in ‘86, a fishing vessel, and now she’s a sturdy, compact hulk sitting proud on the sand at 16 meters. We love how intact she is; you can really make out the shape of her, the wheelhouse, the hold, almost as if she just settled down for a nap. Swim-throughs are a bit tight, but if you’re comfortable with overheads, exploring the deck structures is rewarding. The cold, nutrient-rich water here means you won't find colourful corals, but the life that colonises the *Kalanchoe* is wonderfully robust. Expect to see cod lurking in the shadows, their scales gleaming faintly, and conger eels peeking out from every crevice. Ling also love to hide amongst the twisted metal. The light at 16m can be dim, even on a sunny day, which just adds to the atmospheric feel of the dive. We’d suggest a strong torch to really pick out the details, and perhaps a thicker hood than you’d normally wear. The *Kalanchoe* is ideal for wreck enthusiasts who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of a chill. It’s a quiet, reflective dive, perfect for appreciating the sheer resilience of marine life in these northern waters.
