KATIAN - North Sea Coast

Katian is a proper North Sea wreck, and we absolutely love it for that reason. This isn't some colourful reef; it’s a dive into history, cold and dark, but utterly compelling. The fishing vessel sits upright at 27 metres, surprisingly intact considering the North Sea’s temperament. We’ve found her wheelhouse often still recognisable, and the general shape of a working boat is clear as you descend through the green water. Visibility can be challenging, typically 5 to 10 metres, but that just adds to the atmosphere as the ship slowly reveals herself. What makes Katian a standout for us isn't just the wreck itself, but the life that has claimed it. Expect to see substantial cod shadowing you through the gloom, often very curious. We’ve had a few close encounters with good-sized conger eels too, tucked into the holds. This dive suits experienced wreck divers who appreciate the sombre beauty of an artificial reef and the thrill of exploration in less-than-tropical conditions. Come prepared for the chill, but expect a rewarding dive.
