KENNETH - North Sea Coast

The KENNETH isn’t your typical deep North Sea wreck. Not by a long shot. At a max depth of 1 metre, this is more of a snorkel or wade than a dive, but don’t let that fool you. This old cutter, grounded and broken up close to shore, is absolutely packed with character. You’ll find bits of hull and superstructure poking out of the sand, often half-submerged, creating brilliant little nooks and crannies for life to hide in. We love exploring the exposed timbers, especially at low tide when more of the wreck reveals itself. Look closely amongst the barnacle-encrusted metal and you'll spot crabs scuttling for cover, small blennies darting into crevices, and sometimes even flatfish camouflaged against the sandy bottom. It’s an ideal spot for macro photography if you’ve got a keen eye, or for introducing younger snorkelers to the joys of wreck exploration without the intimidating depth. Our tip? Go at slack tide, or even just before the tide turns, when the water settles and visibility can clear up beautifully, letting you really appreciate the details of this old working boat.
