LISAN HILL - North Sea Coast

Lisan Hill isn't your typical North Sea dive, mainly because it’s not really a dive at all, more of an immersive snorkel with a historical twist. We love this site for its sheer accessibility and the tangible sense of history just below the surface. The wreck of the Lisan, a merchant vessel, sits in just 2m of water, making it perfect for an extended snorkel on a calm day. You're essentially floating over a piece of naval history, tracing the outline of the old hull. Sunlight filters through the shallow water, illuminating rusted metal that’s become home to various small crabs scuttling amongst the growth, and schools of juvenile fish darting in and out of the skeletal structure. It’s not about huge pelagics here, but the intimate details: the way the light plays on the barnacled steel, the gentle sway of seaweed, and the surprisingly robust ecosystems making a home on the wreck. We'd suggest going at high tide for the best visibility and a chance to truly appreciate the scale of the wreck without kicking up too much sand. It’s an ideal spot for new snorkelers, kids, or anyone looking for a relaxed surface adventure with a story to tell.
