LYSAKER III - North Sea Coast

Lysaker III. Now this is a proper North Sea wreck, and our pick for anyone wanting to experience a slice of maritime history without the crazy depths. She sits at just 7 metres, making her perfect for extended bottom times, and the best part? No decompression limits. Built in 1923, this steamship disappeared in early 1936, and the story of her loss is as intriguing as the dive itself. When we drop in, the first thing you notice is how intact she remains for a North Sea wreck. Her stern is particularly impressive, rising from the seabed, and we love navigating through her holds. The light filters down, playing through the skeletal superstructure, creating these amazing shafts that highlight the resident fish. Cod and pollack often school in the shadows, and you’ll spot plenty of blennies tucked into the rivets. We’d suggest going at slack tide; the visibility here can be surprisingly good then, and it makes exploring the interior so much more relaxing. It’s a genuinely atmospheric dive, an accessible look into a bygone era, and you leave feeling a real connection to her story.
