MINNA II (POSSIBLY) - North Sea Coast

Minna II, as we know her, is a big lump of twisted metal on the seabed off the North Sea Coast, likely a trawler. It’s certainly a dangerous wreck, as the official charts say, but that’s precisely what makes it fascinating. We love exploring the collapsed superstructure. It feels like picking through a discarded toy, all mangled and full of gaps. Visibility here can be a bit of a lottery, sometimes a solid 15 meters, other days you’re practically diving by braille. Our pick for finding it is definitely on a slack tide, maybe an hour after high water. When you do descend through that green North Sea water, you’re met with a grey skeletal form, utterly colonised by life. The metal plates are fuzzy with dead man's fingers, and cracks spill out little clouds of squat lobsters. We've seen some hefty cod lurking in the deeper, darker sections of the holds, and velvet crabs are everywhere. It’s a site for those who appreciate the raw history of the sea and don’t mind a bit of a rumble with the current. This isn't a pristine coral garden, it's a cold water wreck dive, full of character and a proper sense of adventure.
