MONICA R - North Sea Coast

The Monica R isn't just another wreck; it's a dramatic, upright beast sitting proud on the North Sea floor. We love how intact she is, almost as if she just dipped under yesterday, rather than back in '91. Dropping down, you’re greeted by the ghostly silhouette of her masts, often shrouded in a green twilight, which is classic North Sea, but here it just adds to the atmosphere. Her holds are largely open, inviting exploration for those comfortable with overhead environments. Flash your torch inside and you’ll often catch the glint of cod or ling darting into the gloom. Our favourite part has to be the bridge area; it’s collapsed a bit, but still offers plenty to poke around in. Keep an eye out for the plumose anemones that cling to every surface, waving like delicate white flowers in the mild current. She’s definitely a dive for experienced wreck enthusiasts who appreciate the history and a bit of a challenge; conditions can get frisky, so pick your weather window carefully.
