NEREUS - North Sea Coast
There’s something about a shipwreck that just gets us. The Nereus, a barge that flipped in rough weather back in '89, sits at 26 metres, making it a solid advanced dive. We love that it’s still relatively intact, though upside down, with plenty of nooks and crannies to peer into. You can swim alongside the hull, spotting the occasional cod or ling darting into the shadows. Visibility can be a bit variable here, typical of the North Sea, but on a good day, when the light penetrates, it's a moody, atmospheric dive. We’d suggest going with a local guide; they’ll know the best slack tide windows to avoid the stronger currents that sometimes whip through. It’s a proper expedition, not a casual dip, but for those who appreciate the quiet history of a sunken vessel, the Nereus delivers.
