NORBERG - North Sea Coast

The Norberg, sitting in a mere three metres of water off the North Sea Coast, isn’t your typical deep wreck dive. Instead, it’s a brilliant, shallow rummage, perfect for a long bottom time and a close look at history. We love that you can spend ages here, really getting to grips with the skeletal remains of the motor vessel, which went down during an Easterly storm back in ‘85. The hull is still surprisingly intact in places, offering plenty of nooks and crannies to peer into. Look for the glint of light through the old portholes as you fin past. What makes Norberg a real standout for us is how marine life has absolutely taken over. Crabs scuttle across the rusted metal plates, blennies dart in and out of the crevices, and we’ve often seen small schools of cod sheltering in the shadow of the superstructure. It’s a photographer's dream, especially on a calm day when the sun penetrates right to the bottom, illuminating the wreck in a soft, green glow. We’d suggest going at high tide for the best visibility and less surge, as it can get a bit churned up in lower water. It’s a site that rewards patience and a keen eye, less about grand scale and more about intimate discovery.
