NORDBORG - North Sea Coast

The *Nordborg* is one of those wrecks that just grabs you. We found it’s not about the depth, which is an easy 15 metres, but the history dripping from every rivet. This steamship met its end in 1942, and you can still feel that weight when you descend. The stern, in particular, is a highlight, broken open just enough to offer intriguing swim-throughs, but not so much that it feels unsafe. We love how the metal has softened over time, creating nooks for cod and blennies to hide, their eyes glinting out from the shadows. Visibility on the North Sea can be fickle, but on a good day, the light filtering through to the *Nordborg* makes the whole site feel moody and atmospheric. We’d suggest diving this one on a slack tide, if you can time it, to really take your time exploring the engine room remains and the scattered debris field. Our favourite moments were spotting the flashes of silver as schools of juvenile Pollock zipped through the main holds. It's a proper wreck dive for those who appreciate maritime history and the slow reclamation by the sea.
