PERNILLE - North Sea Coast

The Pernille, a fishing trawler that went down in 1989, is our favourite kind of North Sea wreck. It’s not just a collection of rusty plates; she sits upright and relatively intact at 24 metres, offering some proper penetration if you’re comfortable in overhead environments. We love nosing around the wheelhouse, imagining the last moments, and there's a real sense of history here. What you'll experience is a ghost ship brought to life by the North Sea's resilient inhabitants. Conger eels are almost guaranteed, peering out from every nook and cranny, and we’ve often seen impressive cod patrol the decks. The hull is draped in dead man’s fingers, swaying gently in the current, adding an eerie, soft texture to the hard metal. This site is definitely one for experienced wreck divers who appreciate a good story and aren't put off by the often green North Sea visibility. It’s about the atmosphere and the exploration, rather than pristine corals. Dive it on a slack tide for the best chance to really get inside.
