PONTON - North Sea Coast

Ponton isn't your typical North Sea dive. It's shallow, just 5m, making it perfect for a long bottom time, and it offers a surprising amount of atmosphere. We love it because it’s a proper piece of history, a dangerous wreck, as the charts say, but in reality, it's just a heavily broken-up pontoon that's been down for ages. What you'll find is a scattered field of metal, beams, and plates, all blanketed in a thick growth of mussels and anemones. The low light filters through the water, giving it a real moody feel. We've spent hours here just poking around the nooks and crannies where the cod and wrasse like to hang out. On a good visibility day, you can really make out the structure, but even when it’s a bit murky, the sheer amount of life clinging to every surface makes it interesting. It’s a great spot for newer drysuit divers looking for something a bit different, or for photographers who appreciate the texture and light play. It's not a deep, dramatic wreck, but it has a quiet charm we always enjoy.
