POSEIDON - North Sea Coast

The *Poseidon* isn't your typical colourful tropical dive, but it's a cracker for wreck enthusiasts, especially if you’re into the historical side of things. This old dredger went down in '72, capsizing near Kalundborg, and now she sits upright in about 15 metres, which makes for a pretty accessible dive. We love that you can still make out a lot of her structure, the superstructure is largely intact, and you can even poke around the holds if you're comfortable with light penetration. The North Sea might sound chilly, but the visibility here can be surprisingly good on a calm day, maybe 10-15 metres, enough to really appreciate the scale of her. It’s an artificial reef, of course, so expect plenty of the usual suspects: cod often cruise around the decks, and we’ve seen some decent-sized crabs tucked into nooks and crannies. The metalwork is draped in a tapestry of anemones and hydroids, a real contrast to the bare metal. It's an excellent site for photographers looking for that moody, atmospheric shot. Our tip? Go on an incoming tide when the water tends to be clearest. This isn't one for beginners; some currents can whip through, and you'll want solid buoyancy for navigating the wreck.
