SCHULAU - North Sea Coast
Schulau, a steamship sunk by a mine in 1919, rests in a surprisingly shallow 5 metres off Denmark’s North Sea coast. It's a proper historical piece, not a broken-up heap, and while the visibility can be typical for the North Sea, the wreck itself is quite atmospheric. You can make out the general shape of the vessel, with sections of the hull still standing proud enough to offer shelter. Look closely and you’ll find crabs scuttling over the metalwork and small schools of fish darting in and out of the darker spaces. It's a good dive for those who appreciate history and aren't chasing colourful coral, perfect for a relaxed exploration on a calm day.
