Why dive here
With 95+ marine species recorded in the area - including seals & sea lions, sea turtles and jellyfish lake - SIGRID offers some of North Sea Coast's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 3-19°C, warmest July, August, September.
The Sigrid, a steamship sunk by a mine in 1943, lies at a reachable 26 metres off the North Sea Coast. We usually find it’s a pretty atmospheric dive, with the ship’s structure still largely intact, giving you plenty to explore across its 73-metre length. The wreck has really settled into its new home, and you’ll often spot a respectable collection of local fish sheltering in the hold or around the bridge area. It's a dive that rewards careful navigation and suits those who appreciate the history beneath the waves more than colourful reefs. Visibility can be a bit variable here, so pick your day carefully; a slack tide dive is always our preference.
