With 95+ marine species recorded in the area - including seals & sea lions, sea turtles and jellyfish lake - SONDERJYLLAND offers some of North Sea Coast's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 3-19°C, warmest July, August, September.
The *Sonderjylland* lies just off Denmark’s North Sea coast, a sobering relic of wartime, sunk by a mine in 1942. At a shallow 8 meters, it’s an accessible wreck, though the fact it was mined always adds a certain gravity. We’ve found that even though it’s broken up, the structure still provides plenty of nooks for small crabs and blennies. Visibility here can be a bit challenging, typical for the North Sea, but on a good day, you can make out the ferry’s general shape. It’s a dive for those interested in history and the hardiness of life in colder waters, not for colourful reefs.
