The Sylvana, a fishing vessel that went down in 1950, rests in surprisingly shallow water on the North Sea coast. At just a meter deep, it’s really more of a snorkel or freedive spot, but it’s a fascinating one. We've found the hull still largely intact, a skeletal frame now home to small crabs scuttling amongst the barnacles and the occasional flatfish camouflaged against the sand nearby. It’s a compelling little piece of history, easily accessible, and gives you a good feel for the coastal shipwrecks this region is known for.
