Why dive here
With 95+ marine species recorded in the area - including seals & sea lions, sea turtles and jellyfish lake - TAIFUN offers some of North Sea Coast's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 3-19°C, warmest July, August, September.
The Taifun, a wooden wreck off Denmark's North Sea coast, sits shallow enough that it's often a good bet for newer wreck divers or those looking for a longer bottom time. We've found the remaining hull sections are now home to a surprising amount of blennies and gobies, tucked into every crevice. Visibility can be a bit variable here, as you'd expect from the North Sea, but on a good day, the light filtering through the shallow water really highlights the texture of the old timber. It's not a grand, intact vessel, but rather a chance to explore the bones of a ship now thoroughly reclaimed by the sea.
Safety Notes
Wreck site - avoid penetration without wreck diving certification. Watch for sharp metal and entanglement hazards.
Cold water this month (avg 13°C). Drysuit or thick wetsuit (7mm+) recommended.
