The Tromp, a merchant vessel, went down in 1946 after hitting a mine, and she now rests upright at 24 metres. We’ve found her to be a great North Sea dive, especially if you like a bit of history with your bottom time. The stern is a good place to start, often home to decent-sized cod lurking in the shadows, and you can swim through various cargo holds that are now draped in fishing nets. Visibility here can be a bit of a lottery, sometimes twenty metres, sometimes closer to five, so we always check the forecast for calm seas after a few days without strong winds. She's a good one for divers with some wreck experience, offering solid penetration opportunities for those with the right training.
