With 95+ marine species recorded in the area - including seals & sea lions, sea turtles and jellyfish lake - Ursten offers some of North Sea Coast's richest reef diving. Water ranges 3-19°C, warmest July, August, September.
Ursten, off the North Sea Coast, isn’t your typical coral reef spectacle. We’re talking about a cold-water reef, a different kind of beauty altogether. Think fields of mussels and barnacles covering the rocky outcrops, providing shelter for crabs and bristleworms. It’s a site for those who appreciate the subtle details of a northern ecosystem, perhaps spotting an occasional harbour porpoise cruising by, or a Common Eider diving for dinner. Visibility can vary, as with any North Sea dive, so we’d suggest picking a calm day for the best chance to really take it all in.
