Why dive here
With 95+ marine species recorded in the area - including seals & sea lions, sea turtles and jellyfish lake - VERKA offers some of North Sea Coast's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 3-19°C, warmest July, August, September.
Verka isn't your deep-water wreck dive; she sits in just two metres of water, right off the North Sea coast. This motor vessel is marked as dangerous, meaning you should approach with respect and a good understanding of your skills. What she offers is a brilliant, shallow rummage, especially on a sunny day when the light penetrates right to the seabed. We’ve found her to be a great spot for newer divers looking to get comfortable around a wreck structure, or for photographers keen on exploring how light plays on a submerged object. Crabs pick their way through the rusted metal, and you’ll spot small schools of fish darting in and out of the exposed ribs. Visibility can be a bit variable here, so we’d suggest picking a calm day, ideally after a period of settled weather.
