VOITJA - North Sea Coast

The VOITJA, a barque sunk in the North Sea, isn’t your typical Caribbean wreck dive. Forget warm water and endless visibility; this is a proper adventure, a historical time capsule lying at 19 metres. We love the chill it sends down your spine as you descend through the green water. The wreck itself is remarkably intact for a vessel bombed by Allied aircraft during the war. Measuring 36.9 by 9.1 metres, it offers plenty to explore, with ghostly timbers and metal frames. We’ve had some fantastic dives here, often spotting large cod lurking in the shadows and inquisitive wolf fish peeking from crevices. It’s a dive that rewards patience and good buoyancy control. The VOITJA suits divers who appreciate history and don't mind cooler temperatures and sometimes challenging conditions; it’s not for the faint of heart, but it’s undeniably rewarding. Our favourite tip? Go on a calm day; the ride out can be choppy, but the better visibility is worth the wait.
