Vollerup Rev - North Sea Coast

Badstue Rev is our pick for a proper reef dive in Bornholm. It's not a dramatic wall, but rather a sprawling, low-lying reef that feels much bigger than it looks on a chart. We love dropping in on a calm day, slipping through the surface to find the kelp forests swaying gently, a real sense of being somewhere alive. What you'll see here is the sheer abundance of North Sea life. Schools of sprat can be so dense they shimmer like liquid silver, parting just enough for you to swim through. Look closer among the fronds, and you’ll spot dab and whiting tucked into the sand, or a common sea star clinging to a rock. We've often found ourselves watching a Great Cormorant dart past, hunting, a reminder of the busy world above. It’s a site that rewards a slow, deliberate dive, really looking at the smaller things. Best for divers who enjoy observation and appreciate the subtleties of a temperate reef. Go when the winds are low for the best visibility, otherwise it can get a bit stirred up.
