FIESTA - Alonissos Marine Park

Alright, Fiesta. This isn't your deep, challenging tech wreck, and we love it for that. The Fiesta, or what's left of the old Theodor Herzl, sits in a shockingly shallow five metres, just off the coast in Alonissos Marine Park. It’s perfect for a long, relaxed dive, even a snorkel, and the sunlight just drenches the whole scene. We’re talking about a seriously big ship, nearly 150 metres, and while it broke up a bit on sinking in '91, there are still massive, recognizable sections. You can spend ages poking around the collapsed bow and stern, the huge propeller shaft, and what would have been the engine room. Our favourite bits are the deck plating, now a crazy paving of light and shadow, absolutely plastered with colourful tube worms, sponges, and anemones. Schools of damselfish shimmer over the metalwork, and we’ve often seen octopus tucked into crevices. It’s a great site for photographers too, the ambient light is just stunning. Head there mid-morning for the best visibility and light penetration.
