KHRISORRI - Alonissos Marine Park
Khrisorri, a merchant ship that went down in 1943, feels like stepping into a time capsule. Dropping down through the clear Aegean blue, the wreck appears gradually, a long, elegant shape resting upright at 44 meters. We love how well-preserved she is, the wooden decks mostly gone, but the metal framework, the bow, and stern still incredibly intact. It’s a proper historical dive, a chance to really think about the stories held within those rusted plates. What really makes Khrisorri special for us is the way the sea has reclaimed it. Schools of barracuda often circle the mast, their silvery bodies flashing in the shafts of sunlight that pierce the depth. Look closely and you’ll spot scorpionfish camouflaged on the hull, and octopuses tucked into crevices. The visibility here is usually excellent, often 25 meters or more, which makes the descent and the view of the entire wreck genuinely impressive. Because of the depth, this one's definitely for experienced wreck divers comfortable with decompression stops. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light really brings out the wreck’s details then.
