PANORMOS - Alonissos Marine Park

Panormos isn't your typical deep Mediterranean wreck. This shallow site in Alonissos Marine Park, just 5m down, is a genuine time capsule. We think it’s our favourite kind of easy dive – a historic wreck, easily accessible, and bursting with life despite its tragic past. It’s perfect for those lazy afternoon dives, or even a second dive when you just want something relaxed and interesting. The wreck itself is a wooden cargo ship, surprisingly intact for its age. You’ll see the ribs of the hull, some decking still in place, all wonderfully draped in sponges and soft corals. Schools of damselfish shimmer around the decaying timbers, and we often spot octopus tucked into crevices. Look closely for nudibranchs, especially on the shaded parts. The light here, even at midday, plays beautifully through the water, illuminating the wreck in a way that feels almost ethereal. This spot is definitely one to take your time over; poke around, explore the nooks, and let the history sink in.
