Wreck Roza Vlassi - Alonissos Marine Park

The Roza Vlassi, a cargo ship that met its end in 1996, sits upright on the seabed, perfectly preserved in the cool embrace of the Aegean. It's a proper wreck dive, not just a pile of rubble. We’re talking about a 45-meter ship, with its mast still standing tall, decks largely intact, and holds open for exploration. It feels like stepping into a moment frozen in time. What really gets us about the Roza Vlassi is the way the Mediterranean has claimed it. Swathes of yellow and orange sponges blanket the steel, and schools of damselfish flit in and out of the bridge. Look closely, and you’ll spot moray eels peering from crevices, and octopus sometimes tucked away in the darker corners of the cargo holds. We’d suggest exploring the stern first, heading towards the bow, taking your time to really absorb the scale of it. Visibility here is usually excellent, often 25 meters plus, which really lets you appreciate the entire structure from a distance before you get up close. It’s a dive that rewards patient exploration, fantastic for advanced divers who appreciate a good historical wreck without strong currents to contend with.
