The IDAHO wreck, off Ireland's South Coast, isn't a shallow splash. She sits at 42 metres, a merchant vessel that struck rocks near Coningbeg Lightship back in 1878. What you’ll find down there is a substantial, broken-up wreck, more scattered pieces than intact hull, but the sheer size of her – over 100 metres originally – means there’s plenty of structure for crabs and lobsters to call home. Visibility can be a typical Irish affair, ranging from decent to challenging, so keep an eye on the forecast. This is one for experienced divers comfortable with deeper dives and navigating a spread-out site, looking to connect with a piece of maritime history.
