The SS Malmanger wreck, off Ireland’s South Coast, offers a proper look at history beneath the waves. She’s a decent sized cargo steamer, sunk back in 1918, and what we find today is a well-broken but still interesting hull, spread out on the seabed. Expect to see her structure forming habitats for local wrasse and lobster, with conger eels often lurking in the darker recesses. It’s a dive that rewards careful exploration rather than dramatic scale, perfect for those who appreciate maritime heritage and the quieter marine life that comes with it. We’d suggest this one for divers comfortable in temperate waters, ready for a bit of a treasure hunt.
