SAVONIA - South Coast
The Savonia, a wooden sailing vessel lost back in 1909, sits shallow enough that it’s less a dive and more a snorkel or very leisurely swim. We’re talking five metres, max, right off the South Coast. What you'll find is a scattered footprint of the ship, mostly timbers now, but enough to trace its former shape. It’s been well-colonised by local invertebrates – think crabs scuttling amongst the planks and the occasional curious wrasse peeking out. It’s a good spot if you’re looking for a relaxed surface interval activity, or just want to poke around some history without the full dive kit.
