TAURIMA - South Coast

The Taurima, a trawler that went down in 1985 after hitting rocks near Mizen Head, is a surprisingly accessible wreck on Ireland's South Coast. She sits in very shallow water, barely 1 metre deep, making her ideal for snorkelers or very shallow freediving. You won't be penetrating this one, but you can still get a good sense of her structure, with parts of the hull and machinery visible. Over the decades, she's become a home for small crabs and a variety of seaweed, a simple yet engaging spot for a quick dip when the weather is calm.
