With 185+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - YTHAN offers some of South Coast's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 9-15°C, warmest July, August, September.
The YTHAN wreck, sitting at 24 metres on Ireland’s South Coast, is a good pick for divers looking for a solid wreck dive without extreme depths. She was a sailing vessel, a dangerous wreck designation that hints at her broken state. What you find now is a scattered debris field, with ribs and timbers spread across the seabed, giving a sense of the vessel’s original structure. We often find conger eels tucked into the larger sections and plenty of smaller fish flitting through the skeletal remains. It’s a site that rewards a slow, methodical exploration, perfect for divers who enjoy piecing together history underwater.
