Why dive here
With 169+ marine species recorded in the area - including dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales, ocean sunfish (mola mola) and octopuses - George s Head offers some of West Coast's richest diving. Water ranges 8-17°C, warmest July, August, September.
George's Head offers a straightforward shore dive on Ireland's west coast. Entry is easy from a small beach, leading to a shallow rocky reef. We've often spotted crabs, blennies, and small schools of wrasse tucked amongst the kelp. It’s a good spot for newer divers looking for an accessible local dive, especially on a calm day.
Safety Notes
Cold water this month (avg 14°C). Drysuit or thick wetsuit (7mm+) recommended.
