Why dive here
With 169+ marine species recorded in the area - including dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales, ocean sunfish (mola mola) and octopuses - Horn Head offers some of West Coast's richest diving. Water ranges 8-17°C, warmest July, August, September.
Horn Head offers a rugged dive along the Irish coastline. We've often found lobsters tucked into crevices and common wrasse darting between the kelp fronds here. It's a site best suited for experienced divers comfortable with changeable Atlantic conditions and cooler water. Bring a good torch for exploring the overhangs.
Safety Notes
Cold water this month (avg 14°C). Drysuit or thick wetsuit (7mm+) recommended.
