LISA SELENA - West Coast

The *Lisa Selena* isn't a wreck you’ll hear about in glossy magazines, and that's precisely why we love it. Off the West Coast of Ireland, she’s a compact fishing vessel, around 11 metres, sitting upright in 42 metres. It’s a deep dive, make no mistake, and one we’d suggest for experienced wreck divers comfortable with colder water and limited bottom time. Drop down the line and she emerges from the gloom, surprisingly intact. Her wheelhouse is gone, but the hull remains, draped in a thick tapestry of plumose anemones – pure white against the dark metal. We’ve spotted conger eels peeking from beneath her collapsed deck, and pollack often school just above the stern. The real magic here is the sense of discovery; it feels remote, a little secret. There’s a quiet beauty to her, less about dramatic collapse and more about how the ocean slowly reclaims what was once a working boat. We usually find the conditions best in late summer or early autumn, when the visibility tends to be at its clearest, though expect it to be a silty dive if there’s been any recent swell.
