Why dive here
With 169+ marine species recorded in the area - including dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales, ocean sunfish (mola mola) and octopuses - Outer Rock offers some of West Coast's richest reef diving. Water ranges 8-17°C, warmest July, August, September.
Outer Rock sits off Ireland's west coast, a straightforward intermediate dive down to 24m. It's a predominantly rocky reef, where we've often found conger eels tucked into crevices and plenty of wrasse darting through the kelp. Visibility can be a bit variable, but on a good day, it’s a solid dive for those looking to experience typical Irish coastal diving without anything too challenging.
