Ħamrija Bank - Comino

Ruby Reef is one of those places where we love to spend a whole day, doing multiple dives. The reef itself isn't a massive structure, but the sheer density of life, particularly small stuff, is what draws us back. We’re talking about the kind of place where you can spend twenty minutes in a square metre, spotting more than you would on an average drift. Look closely, and you’ll find Leopard Blennies perched on coral heads, tiny Striped Triplefins darting in and out of crevices. We’ve had incredible luck here finding Flasher Scorpionfish, their colours just popping against the reef. The Montipora and Cauliflower corals form a beautiful backdrop, especially when the light hits them right. Keep an eye out for Mimic Surgeonfish – they’re masters of disguise here. It's a site for divers who appreciate the small wonders, who like to slow down and really observe. If you rush it, you’ll miss the best bits.
