Della Larga Forca - Comino

Singleton Patch, for us, is all about the little things, and sometimes the big things that surprise you. We love this site not for dramatic walls or sweeping currents, but for its quiet, unassuming charm. It’s a patchy reef, as the name suggests, interspersed with sandy bottoms and some really healthy seagrass beds. That seagrass is key, drawing in a completely different cast of characters than your typical coral bommie. When we dive Singleton Patch, we’re often scanning the sand and seagrass for flatback turtles resting or grazing. You’ll definitely spot Black-tipped Silver-biddies flitting about, and often some chunky Rock Cod tucked into the coral bommies that dot the patch. The real magic happens when you slow down and observe the resident reef sharks, usually blacktips, cruising the edges. Keep an eye on the surface too; we’ve seen Caspian Terns and even Beach Stone-curlews feeding in the shallows above. This is a site for the patient observer, someone who appreciates the subtler side of reef life and wants to see how different habitats intertwine.
