Dive Charters Gibraltar - Al Hoceima
The team at Dive Charters Gibraltar are our go-to in Al Hoceima for a few key reasons. While their name might hint at somewhere else, they've set up a really solid operation here, offering PADI courses right up to instructor level. We love that they’re so focused on teaching, meaning their rental gear is usually well-maintained and their instructors are genuinely passionate about getting people comfortable in the water. This is a great choice if you’re looking to get certified or advance your skills, as they’re set up for serious learning. We’ve had some cracking dives with them, especially around the rocky outcrops that are just a short boat ride away. The thermoclines can be quite noticeable, dropping a few degrees as you descend past 10 metres, but that often brings in bigger fish. We’ve seen schools of barracuda cruising in the bluer water, and the occasional sunfish during late summer. The visibility averages around 15-20 metres on a good day, allowing you to really appreciate the varied topography. Our favourite tip? Ask them about an early morning dive if conditions are calm; the light hitting the sandy patches and the chance to spot octopus out hunting are worth the early start. Be aware that currents can pick up, so listen to the dive brief, but overall, it's a very rewarding area.
