With 189+ marine species recorded in the area - including dolphins, mobula rays (devil rays), ocean sunfish (mola mola), octopuses and sea turtles - Cala Abierta offers some of Cabo de Palos's richest diving. Water ranges 15-28°C, warmest July, August, September.
Cala Abierta offers an easy dive down to 20m, making it a good spot for newer divers getting comfortable with the Mediterranean. It’s mostly sand and rock formations, though you can often find schooling bream and gobies poking out from crevices. We’d suggest it for an afternoon check-out dive or if you're looking for a relaxed pace after something more challenging. Expect a pleasant, straightforward dive here.
