MAURA - Cabo de Palos

The Maura offers a surprisingly engaging shore dive, given its shallow depth. What's left of the old motor vessel, broken on the rocks at Miramar since '73, sits in just a meter of water. You're essentially exploring the exposed ribs and twisted metal of the stern section, which makes for some interesting swim-throughs if you're comfortable squeezing through tight spots. We’ve found moray eels tucked into the crevices, and clouds of damselfish usually hover around the larger metal plates. It’s a site for a relaxed poke around, perfect for photographers wanting to capture light play on the wreck and the small inhabitants.
