WILD LEOPARD - Cabo de Palos

The Wild Leopard is a dive we always enjoy in Cabo de Palos, offering a different flavour than the usual cargo ships around here. She’s a 30-metre yacht, sunk in '89 after an engine room fire, now sitting upright at 35 metres. You drop down onto the main deck, often with schooling barracuda circling the mast. Our favourite part is exploring the stern, where you can still make out the luxury fittings – a proper contrast to the working vessels nearby. We love finning through the saloon, imagining the parties on board before she sank. The light filters in through the windows, illuminating nudibranchs clinging to the bulkheads and moray eels peeking from every crevice. Visibility here often pushes 20 metres, making the silhouette of the wreck striking against the blue. It’s a dive that rewards a slow pace, letting you soak in the history and the marine life that has fully embraced this old yacht. This site suits divers comfortable with depth, eager to explore a wreck with character, and who appreciate a more intimate diving experience away from the larger, darker hulks.
