la Pota del Llop - Medes Islands

La Pota del Llop. Even the name, "wolf's paw," suggests something a little wild, and it delivers. We love this site for its sheer wall diving, a real vertical playground that just drops away into the blue. It’s a sensory overload, really. As you descend, the light shifts, fading from the bright Mediterranean turquoise to a deeper, more profound blue. We've spent entire dives just tracking the red coral, watching the polyps extend their delicate white arms into the current. It’s a fantastic spot for macro, our favourite part. Keep your eyes peeled on those crevices and underhangs. We’ve had incredible luck finding pink cuttlefish nestled in the rocky ledges and even spotted a seahorse once, clinging to a gorgonian – a genuinely rare treat around here. Look for the electric glow of light-bulb sea squirts, they really pop against the darker rock. Dive it slow, stick to the wall, and let your eyes adjust. You’ll be rewarded with sights like the distinctive marbled goby or the elusive Cadenat's rockfish peeking out from their rocky hideouts. This is a site for divers who appreciate the finer details, who don't need pelagics to be captivated.
