Rabiou, Arche - Medes Islands
Rabiou, Arche, in the Medes Islands, is one of those dives that sticks with you. It’s a proper swim-through, a natural arch carved into the rock, not just a little crack. You start by descending into this cool, blue twilight zone, following the rock face down. The sensation of swimming through that arch is incredible; the light plays on the walls, shafts breaking through the surface above, illuminating the sponges and small anemones clinging on. We always tell people to take it slow here, drift through and let your eyes adjust. Our favourite part is often just after you exit the arch, when you look back. The contrast between the open water and the dark opening you just came from is really striking. You’ll spot the usual Mediterranean suspects – lots of schooling damselfish, small wrasse darting between crevices. Keep an eye on the rock walls for speckled sea-louse and Alder's Necklace Shells, they’re often overlooked but really interesting when you find them. It’s not a deep dive, but the low light conditions mean it feels more adventurous. This is a perfect site for divers who appreciate the geological features as much as the marine life, offering a genuine sense of exploration without being overly challenging.
