Roche Michel - Medes Islands

Roche Michel holds a special place for us in the Medes. It’s not the biggest name, but it consistently delivers a really satisfying dive. You drop onto a rocky slope that just keeps going, down past fields of pink sea fans, their branches swaying gently in the mild current. We often find ourselves just floating there, watching schools of snapper drift through, their silver scales flashing. Keep an eye out for the smaller stuff here, too. We’ve spotted hooded shrimp tucked into crevices and, if you look carefully among the rocks, elliptical file-shells. It’s a site that rewards patience. Our favourite technique is to take it slow, really scour the nooks and crannies. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a Cuvier's beaked whale passing in the deeper blue, though that's a rare treat. We’d suggest this site for anyone who appreciates the quieter side of Mediterranean diving, those who love to really observe. It’s a reliable spot for good visibility and generally calm conditions, making for a relaxed dive every time.
